Newt Gingrich Wants to Restore the Constitution by Arresting All the Judges

SODOM & GOMORRAH: In a show of unbridled intelligence, Newt Gingrich has found the perfect way to restore the supremacy of the US Constitution: arrest all the non-Constitutional judges.

The Onion couldn’t write better material. Newt Gingrich suggested recently that the cure to unconstitutional judicial rulings is to force all dissenting judges to testify before Congress. In a perfectly serious and sincere tone, Gingrich advocated sending US Marshalls to apprehend judges who ruled in a way that would-be President Gingrich felt to be unconstitutional.

The candidate’s comments came after his popularity began to slip in Iowa; both Ron Paul and Rick Perry have been running negative ads against the Gingrich campaign in efforts to carve away his sway with voters. The efforts by and large seem to be working. We at Restorus are curious to see if Newt’s pledge for a Stalinist purge of the counterrevolutionaries will help any. If it does not, either Romney or Paul will likely win the nomination. If it does help, we will have to conclude that Iowa is not the state for us. And that a career as a judge suddenly became much more dangerous.
